Best Practices for Increasing Product Adoption

  • Most obviously, deliver an awesome product that is part of users’ essential workflows, creates value, has an intuitive UX, etc.; continually improve the product based on customer feedback
  • Provide personalized, 1:1 user onboarding (where economically viable); otherwise, leverage self-service or group onboarding; onboard new users and admins on an ongoing basis; shorten the initial time to value
  • Provide exceptional customer support and a deep knowledge base
  • Leverage CSMs/TAMs to suggest/guide new ways to get value (for high value accounts)
  • Leverage lean, high-value email alerts to bring users regularly into the product
  • Tap into web re-targeting to bring existing users back into the product
  • Build integrations with other tools your customers rely on (email, messaging, workflow systems, etc.)
  • Rely on (personalized) product marketing to keep users continually educated
  • Identify and engage disengaged users; where relevant, reassign licenses to ensure high utilization
  • Use in-app messaging to drive feature discovery/adoption
  • Host a thriving user community
